◎簡       介
         1950年，詠春派一代宗師葉問（黃秋生飾）與妻子張永成（袁詠儀飾）帶同兒子葉準到澳門生活，繼而到香港謀生。一次較量，梁雙（洪天明飾）甘拜下風，並拜葉問為師。其後，葉問先後收瞭李瓊（蔣路霞飾）、陳四妹（鐘欣桐飾）、鄧聲（陳小春飾）、汪東（周定宇飾）、吳贊等人為徒。但最矚目是與紅顏知己珍妮（周楚楚飾）一段鮮為人知的事跡。
　　汪東與吳贊好鬥，四處與其他門派“講手”，經常需要葉問調解。某夜，工友們與梁雙在天臺開會起沖突，葉問出手制伏眾人。另一方面，鄧聲沉迷名利，與貪污警員同流合污。葉問向鄧聲曉以大義，鄧聲終暗中協助因引發警民沖突而被捕的李瓊獲釋。
　　1959年，九龍城寨由江湖中人地頭龍（熊欣欣飾）統領，經營不良勾當。鄧聲答應暗助魏霸天（盧偉光飾）的獅隊勝出，好讓地頭龍操控比賽結果。比賽當天，魏霸天偷襲吳忠（曾志偉飾），葉問出手救助吳忠，擊敗魏霸天。葉問與吳忠成瞭莫逆之交。
