來 自美國聖地牙哥的As I Lay Dying是NWOAHM(New Wave Of American Heavy Metal)運動的佼佼者，也是最被歌迷所津津樂道的。2000年成軍，短短七年的時間，專輯便直接攻進最具公信力的美國告示牌排行榜Billboard 前十名，搖滾榜更是直攻冠軍，可說是戰績斐然！As I Lay Dying的音樂風格帶有強烈的速度感以及強烈的重量感，正如Metalcore一貫的風格，並且強調明顯的旋律性，配以主唱的Hardcore唱腔，融 合有力大聲的清腔唱法與合音，讓音樂結構超乎想像的完美，完全不失金屬音樂的強烈侵略性卻又有如經過縝密計畫的攻擊行動，完完全全的戰爭藝術作品，稱為 Metalcore的頭號代言人一點也不為過。
2012年，As I Lay Dying錄製了全新第六張大碟『Awakened』，氣勢如洪地直攻下告示牌第11名！專輯第一首"Cauterize"毫不掩飾強烈的攻擊性，一開始 便以萬箭齊發的氣勢直搗金屬樂迷的中樞神經；首波主打"A Greater Foundation"漸漸醞釀，以主唱的怒吼拉開序幕，強烈的節奏性絕對可以讓金屬樂迷撞成一片！"Whispering Silence"一曲雖一點都不Silence，但強烈的旋律性卻足以讓第一次接觸他們的朋友深深著迷；"Overcome"一曲更如同歌名，強烈的節奏 刺激，在慢板以及吉他Solo的橋段更有著激勵人心的魔力，只能說As I Lay Dying很成功地掌握住了音樂的力道，不只是打擊，而是深深衝擊到聽眾的心。
在NWOAHM成功讓許多正統金屬樂派復興並且逐漸轉型的同時，As I Lay Dying仍然堅守崗位，再度交出一張爽快大作，『Awakened』絕對是金屬迷今年絕對不能錯過的超級大作。
As I Lay Dying is an American metalcore band from San Diego, California. Founded in 2000 by their vocalist Tim Lambesis and having completed their first Line-up in 2001, the band consists of vocalist Tim Lambesis, drummer Jordan Mancino, lead guitarist Nick Hipa, rhythm guitarist Phil Sgrosso, and bassist/clean vocals Josh Gilbert. Signed to Metal Blade Records, As I Lay Dying has released six studio albums, one split album, and two compilation albums.
As I Lay Dying's fourth studio album, An Ocean Between Us peaked at number 8 on the Billboard 200, and number 1 on the Top Rock chart. The band has performed at Wacken Open Air, With Full Force, Soundwave Festival, Sounds of the Underground, Warped Tour, Bloodstock Open Air and Taste of Chaos. In 2007, As I Lay Dying won the "Ultimate Metal God" award from MTV2 at the first annual "All That Rocks" special, was named "Artist of the Year" at the San Diego Music Awards in 2005, 2007 and 2008, and was nominated for a 2008 Grammy Award for the song "Nothing Left". Their fifth studio album, The Powerless Rise was written over a three-year period and was released in May 2010 to widespread critical acclaim. The band's sixth album, Awakened, was released on September 25, 2012.
